I still had very inconsistent results when layering - my goal was a floating blue, beautiful when it works. I signed up to the famous Ceramic Materials Workshop course - Understanding Glazes in Summer 2019. It was another investment, but the course had such good reviews, I thought I'd try it as 'Lectures only' - a cheaper way without the group labs to talk learnings through.
The course is hard - you need the time to properly dedicate to it - but it was really rewarding. It was a proper university level course, testing my GCSE Chemistry, but once I understood it I could apply it directly to improving my glazes. So useful, that I signed up straight to the Advanced Glazes course - this time with labs. We worked through my issues as a class - mostly about the percentage of H2O and application techniques. It was so valuable to learn as a group about everyone's challenges and what they were testing to solve them. I'd do the same course again (when I have the cash)!
